A stiff breeze greeted Cambridge who were playing the first half into the wind in soft conditions. Disciplined work through the phases saw Cambridge progress steadily up the field to within yards of the try line, only for good kicking by Peterborough to reverse the situation. Cambridge kept up the pressure and slick handling out of a ruck saw the ball flow through several pairs on hands for a first Cambridge try by Sam Segameglio in the corner, 5 – 0. Peterborough replied with a try down the wing to equalise a few minutes later, 5 – 5. A long phase of balanced play concluded with another Cambridge try shortly before half time, scored by Hugo Chambre, converted by Sam Segameglio, 12 – 5.
The second half now had the wind in Cambridge's favour, and James Smith ran in a quick try straight after the restart, 17 – 5. Another phase of hard work was rewarded with a try by Sam Copeland, 22 – 5. Peterborough was not about to let Cambridge run away with the game, and now playing with an even stronger wind against them scored and converted from out wide, despite the wind, 22 – 12. A final try with just seconds to go by Ollie Bass finished the match at 27 – 12.
