Defibrillator

The club now has a defibrillator permanently in place under the covered area by the player entrance. Its a gift from Brad Herrington who has made this donation in addition to all the ECG screening that is funded from the Joe Herrington Trust.

Sam Hunter of the Wanderers installed it all last weekend and training of the physios, coaches and key personnel in the club will take place over the coming weeks. The Club is hugely grateful to Brad, Danielle and Jake for this gift. Of course, we hope we never have to use it, but if we ever do, it will be worth it's weight in gold.

Get Well Soon Ace

Many at the club have been following the recovery of Roger Parker ("Ace" to his friends) after his mountaineering accident in the Alps this summer.  Roger was long time Wanderers captain and is a huge supporter of the club.  Our thoughts go out to him and his wife Leslie as we wish for his speedy recovery.

Thank-you Steve, Welcome JJ

The committee at Cambridge rugby club would like to express their sincere gratitude to Steve Bowller who resigned as club chairman yesterday. Steve has led the club through its darkest hour and through his leadership has been instrumental in securing the club's financial future. As a club we are eternally grateful for him getting the club this far.

Steve made it clear to the members at the last AGM that, having set and achieved his objective to save the club from the brink of disaster, it was his intention to relinquish his post this season. Knowing this, the committee co-opted JJ Jeffrey to the committee to work under Steve as part of a transition plan that would see him putting his name forward as a candidate to replace Steve when the time arose. This time has now come to fruition and at a meeting last night JJ Jeffrey was elected by the committee to be chairman. JJ has been a long standing member of the club and has represented each of the Senior teams during his playing career. He has been keen to play a part in the rebuilding of Cambridge Rugby Club and build upon the firm foundations laid by Steve and his committee. Last night the committee gave JJ their unanimous support and expressed their confidence in JJ's ability to lead the club.

Alan Banks, the president of the club, said "I've known JJ for many years as a player and member of the club and am delighted that he has stepped up to chair the committee in driving the club forwards. I look forward to working closely with him."

Glen Remnant, the director of rugby, said "it's been great working with Steve and we are all grateful for his leadership in getting us this far. We now need to move on to the next phase of the club's development and I'm excited at the chance to work with JJ in achieving our goals on and off the pitch."

JJ Jeffrey, on being elected said, "I am incredibly grateful to Steve for everything that he has done over the past couple of years to ensure the security of the club's financial future. I look forward to working with the committee, our members and sponsors to build upon his foundations and to drive the club forward in its next chapter."
