We would like to thank Jerry for all that he has done for the Club during his long association as player, coach, committee member, Chairman and recently President. Historically Jerry has been a good friend to the club, and has made substantial investments over recent years to help contribute to the clubs success on the field. Cambridge RUFC would not have been where it is today without Jerry's drive and his input has been a fillip to the clubs progress up through the leagues.
Latterly Jerry has had an opposed opinion as to the direction the club needs go in and has felt it necessary to resign his presidency in its infancy. The executive fully understand Jerry’s position and respect his decision to step away from the club.
It is now up to us to usher in the next chapter in the clubs history. Many national league clubs have found themselves in similar positions to ourselves – it is a case of pulling together, rolling our sleeves up and doing our best to be at our very best.”
The economic climate has taken its toll across the broad spectrum of sports and finding sponsors continues to be the challenge set to all semi and professional sports clubs.
This is an opportunity to take stock, and look to the journey the club wishes to embark upon, perhaps now is the time to refocus our attention on the club per se and look to build upon the traditional foundations of the rugby club to dovetail with our success on the field. We must understand that there is so much more to our club than its successful first team and now is the time to look inwards as well as upwards. There must be a pathway from mini and youth that fuels the hopes and aspirations of all who play here, as well as the members who support them.
