Ely 1st XV 5 - 36 Wanderers

On a very cold night in Ely the Wanderers took on the Ely 1st XV in the quarter finals of the Cambridgeshire Cup, and came away with a comprehensive 36 - 5 win.

First half tries were scored by Will Hague-Blundy, Edd Thrower and Liam St. John, all converted by colt fly-half Josh Gray. With only one try concession this left the half time score at 21-5.

In the second half Edd Thrower added a second try to his tally, along with tries from Gareth Baxter and Tom Dougherty, leaving the final score at 36-5.

Keys to the win were a very dominant scrum, with most Cambridge penetration and try success achieved when we managed play several phases and work the ball wide out into space.

A special mention must go out to two Colts, Josh Gray and Conor Gracey making their senior debuts.

Wanderers now qualify for the semi-final against Shelford Nomads (their development squad) at Shelford on Friday 8th March. Come along and support. Dress warm.
