Newmarket beat Ely in the Final
Fantastic progress in 2013 from all three Cambridge teams, with Cambridge Blood and Sand both reaching the semi final and both losing narrowly in extra time.
Cambridge Sand were Pool winners after beating CAmbo Barbarians & Shelford Dragons to comprehensively win their pool, then narrowly missing out to Ely in the semi final in sudden death.
Cambridge Blood started strongly against Saffron Walden, exhibiting some of the open passing rugby that Cambridge have been trying to play all season, they went on to beat Shelford Vikings and then played a really entertaining game against last years finalists Wendens Ambo, winning by two tries.
This set up a semi final against eventual winners Newmarket: a really hard fought game. Newmarket were more effective in the scrum and at the breakdown but Cambridge went ahead in the first half with some lovely passing in very difficult conditions, they might have won the match if they had continued to focus on passing the ball along the line but ultimately lost in sudden death when Newmarket scored in the corner evading two flying Cambridge tacklers.
