Welcome to the Under 11 Age Group at Cambridge Rugby Club. 

We are a friendly collection of rugby enthusiasts drawing boys from over 20 schools in and around Cambridge all enjoying a great rugby experience. We have boys who have played together, at Cambridge, from the age of 5 through to half a dozen or so new starters to the 2012/2013 Season. We are very keen to encourage new joiners to the group and guarantee a warm welcome.  

At this age, the game is played in contact and with competitive matches involving 12 players a side; five in the scrum, the usual arrangement of Half Backs, Centres and Wingers and a Full Back. We play with an overriding ethos of participation and giving one’s best. The volunteer coaches are all aware that the game can be technical at times and that each child will develop at a different pace. We encourage players to try all positions to gain knowledge, from experience and develop tactics and decision making all within fun-filled Sundays mornings at Grantchester Road.  

There are competitive matches against all the major Rugby Clubs within the area and the opportunity to participate in Festivals. For the first year, an under 11 tour to Dublin in April! We aim to field two sides in most club fixtures where we are able to allow teams of mixed ability to progress together whilst at Tournaments we will field an A side in pursuit of silverware.
