Kettering U12 5-45 CRUFC U12

Most improved player, Master Marlin, tops the try scoring table!

Cambridge rounded off their U12 season with an emphatic win over Kettering, 45 - 5 (without conversions!).

Having not played them for 2 years we did not know what to expect and they looked well drilled and a big bunch of lads when we arrived for the warm up

The fears were soon overcome when George Marlin scored the first of his four tries straight from the kick off followed by another within 3 minutes, Marlin scoring again after a well worked move.
Kettering then woke up to the challenge and we were at stalemate for the next 15 minutes until Marcus Gaiser-Porter crashed over the line to take the visitors 3 tries clear. George Marlin then scored his third following a quick turnover and powerful run the length of the field, breaking through at least 5 tackles.

The half ended well for Kettering as they sneaked their only try following a missed tackle but Cambridge were determined not to let any more over the whitewash

Half time Cambridge 20-5 Kettering

The second half was another stormer for Cambridge who showed their strength in depth when 6 out of the 13 players who were traditionally playing as forwards had a run in the backs.

The traditional pack turned over the ball on numerous occasions and Cambridge punished them running in 5 more tries, all scored by the Forwards posing as backs.

Pawel Kozlowski burst through the line on two occasions to run from half way and score two tries, Joseph Roberts (Prop on a usual day) playing Wing for the first time, enjoyed scoring a try after several phases of play, George Marlin added his Fourth and Sam Burles finished the game with a superb bulldozing try to end with 9 tries scored and 1 scored against.

There were no conversions as several parents had parked behind the posts so we saved their cars from guaranteed dents!!! Could have been 63!
