This is to confirm that we have today finalised a unique sponsorship deal for Cambridge RUFC with Alki David's
FILMON.COM video on demand business, which will see the pitch being named for the first time 'THE FILMON.COM FIELD' with a company logo being placed on the pitch.
The deal will consist of a substantial cash injection over the next two years and beyond, should the sponsorship work out in the way all parties feel during that period.
This is the first time we believe any rugby club has had their playing area named , as ordinarily it is the ground name that sponsors want, but FILMON.COM have a fresh approach to the way they view sponsorship and intend to look at further possibilities over the next few seasons. The investment in Cambridge RUFC is in line with Alki David's aim of investing in sports clubs he feels have great long term potential, in order to promote the FILMON.COM brand which it is felt offers great synergy between the sports public and the movie watching public.
As has been reported in the media Alki David's group are also considering a much greater investment in football clubs which have a long term vision of gaining Premiership status hence his approach to Coventry City FC in the past few days.
'Perhaps with this first stage involvement I may be able to encourage the sport in Greece as sadly my home nation is not even as yet emerging in this sport' explains David. ‘But we have a clear understanding of potential, and Cambridge has a huge potential over the next few seasons to become the first rugby giant of East Anglia. The Directors have shown they have a desire to gain Premiership status over the next few years and the past four years have highlighted their ambitions , my company FILMON.COM and the unique branding of the playing surface as 'FILMON.COM FIELD' shows our commitment for the future.'
The agreement as stated will run for a first stage two seasons commencing January 2008.
