Cambridge Sand
0 – 0 Saffron Walden A
Both sides were evenly matched from the kick off. Cambridge rucked and
srummaged well producing good ball for their backs, however they were not able
to convert their territorial advantage into points because of excellent defence
by Saffron Walden. Cambridge
probably had the slight upper hand going into half-time.
The second half was much of the same. The Cambridge
scrum looked even stronger but for all Cambridge’s
territorial advantage they we not able to breach the strong Saffron Walden
defence. The game finished 0 – 0 after half-an-hour of excellent rugby.
Cambridge Blood 15 – 0 Saffron Walden B –
Tries: - Josh Ghoorahoo, Tom Clements, William Zeitlyn
This game started very much as the first with two evenly
matched sides but perhaps Saffron Walden had a slight territorial advantage. Towards
the end of the half, Cambridge
made a good move down the back line with James Young being tackled just short
of the try line; but Josh Ghoorahoo was supporting and picked up to score in
the corner. Half time 5 – 0.
In the second half Cambridge
had more of the ball and territory and capitalised on their advantage to score
two further tries. Both coming from winning the ball at set pieces, followed by
passing the ball down the back line only for the moves to be stopped just short
of the try line; however there was always a player in support. The first try of
the half was scored by Tom Clements and the second by William Zeitlyn. The match
finished Cambridge Blood 15 – 0 Saffron Walden B.
