Under 10s

The Under 10s are part of the minis section at the club, which is the Under 7 – Under 12 age group. We aim to provide a series of age-specific modified rugby games and drills. These modified rugby games progressively develop the individual skills, fitness, teamwork and personal and social skills.

We focus on three key points:
Fun
110% effort
Communication

We will also work on rugby’s five core values of Team Spirit, Discipline, Sportsmanship, Enjoyment and Respect.

This age group introduces:
a maximum of 8-a-side
Maximum pitch size: 60 metres x 35 metres
Ball Size: 4
Maximum minutes each half: 15
Introduction of uncontested scrum
Nearest 3 players in a scrum (all players trained, late specialisation)
Contest for the ball (1 player v 1 player)
Introduction of Maul
Introduction of Ruck; the main aim is to have fun and learn through practice and play.

Training and matches usually start at 0930 on Sunday mornings, with the first registration Sunday being on 9th September. More detailed information and further updates can be obtained from the age group admin and coaches.

This is also the age group where many parents become involved with Cambridge Rugby club. The Mini & Youth section is run entirely by parent volunteers and it is extremely rewarding.
